Saturday Recipe: "My Clementine Martizze"

Izze sodas are a fantastic component for mixed drinks. They are tasty, fizzy, and not too sweet, and they come in a lot of interesting flavors. This recipe uses the Clementine flavor.

"My Clementine Martizze"

2 parts orange or citrus-y juice
1 part Boathouse Farms berry blend smoothie or other berry juice
2 parts vodka

Shake the above over ice and strain into martini glasses, but only to about 2/3 full. Don't add the Izze until after you've shaken and strained, otherwise you take all the fizzy out of the Izze.

Add chilled Izze Clementine soda to fill the rest of the glass.

Then put your sunglasses on, find a good book and a lawn chair, and pretend you're on vacation somewhere else.

Let me go ahead an say this: I am not a chef by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not even a particularly great or prolific cook. But I do enjoy cooking enough to experiment with ideas once in a while that will make it seem like I'm a good cook without getting too time-consuming or technically obnoxious. They usually fall into these categories: drinks (of course!), vegetarian, or easy-way-to-impress-guests. I will do my best to share at least one recipe every Saturday.

Kids with Cameras

I have an inexpensive digital camera that we bought while on a trip without the battery charger for my regular camera. I like to leave it lying around the house, maybe on the coffee table, or on the kitchen counter. At 8 years old, the kids are more than capable of operating this camera, and could quite possibly operate the space shuttle, but we adults don't want to think about how digitally outpaced we are by our children. Anyway, they like to pick this camera up and go around the house with it while they play. I love finding it every now and then and checking to see what they've been taking pictures of. It's always hilarious what they find picture-worthy and how they ham for each other. I can't get enough of these little glimpses into their world.
